VeriLook Surveillance 3.0 SDK is now available. The new version identifies faces and moving objects, differentiates pedestrians from other moving objects in video surveillance systems. The smart monitoring algorithm for video surveillance provides biometric facial identification, as well as identifies whether subjects in motion are people or objects and detects when defined borders have been crossed, triggering alerts in law enforcement and security monitoring systems.

NCheck Bio Attendance 2.1 is now available. The new version features:

  • Fingerprint and face recognition support – users can be identified using both fingerprints and faces.
  • Support for Android devices – both face and fingerprint recognition now can be used in off-the shelf Android devices.
  • Custom reporting capabilities – time and attendance system administrators can now create their own custom reports for better integration with existing payroll systems.
  • Web user interface – the users can conveniently access attendance data via a web browser and review historical check-in and check-out data.

Introducing SentiBotics mobile robotics development kit from Neurotechnology.

SentiBotics enables the rapid development and testing of mobile robots and comes with software, sample programs, a tracked platform and grasping robotic arm, 3D vision, object recognition and autonomous navigation capabilities. The kit includes a mobile robotic platform with a 3D vision system, modular robotic arm and accompanying Neurotechnology-developed, ROS-based software with complete source code. The programming samples included in the robotics development kit demonstrate a number of capabilities, including how to teach the robot to recognize and grasp objects and how to use the robot to create a map of the local environment that the robot can then use for autonomous navigation in the learned environment.

Neurotechnology announces major updates to entire biometric product line. Algorithm improvements, new functionality and higher-level API allow faster integration.

  • The new, higher-level API is designed to make it easier and faster to integrate any combination of fingerprint, face, iris and voice biometrics into identification projects – from basic applications like secure entry to national-scale projects such as voter registration that require high-speed, high-volume identification capabilities. The new API also makes it simple to switch between the local computer and the required server-side solution and enables the application to be scaled up as needed.
  • VeriFinger 7.0 SDK, MegaMatcher 5.0 SDK and MegaMatcher Accelerator 7.0. The new fingerprint recognition algorithm provides up to two times higher accuracy than the previous version. Fingerprint segmentation, extraction and matching are now performend with greater precision.
  • VeriLook 5.5 SDK and MegaMatcher 5.0 SDK. The new facial recognition algorithm offers faster face detection, improved face feature determination and emotion detection.
  • VeriEye 2.8 SDK, VeriSpeak 2.1 SDK and MegaMatcher 5.0 SDK. Iris and voice biometrics all include algorithm updates for functionality improvement or higher recognition accuracy.
  • MegaMatcher On Card 3.3 SDK includes algorithm updates for functionality improvement or higher recognition accuracy using smart cards.

Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Passport Tracking & AFIS System is based on MegaMatcher technology. The CenAFIS by Cenmetrix has been used by the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment to accurately identify and record Sri Lankan citizens working in different countries around the world, as well as eliminate the use of fraudulent passports. Since 2012, more than 100,000 people have been enrolled in the system, with 350 to 450 new enrollments per business day.

Neurotechnology announces MegaMatcher Accelerator 6.0 high-speed, high-volume multibiometric identification solution and updates to entire biometric product line:

  • MegaMatcher Accelerator 6.0 new facial biometric capabilities offer fast matching speeds of up to 100 million templates per second and the solution has a capacity of up to 10 million faces on a single server.
  • MegaMatcher Accelerator Development Edition, a new component, has been added to the MegaMatcher 4.5 Extended SDK.
  • MegaMatcher Embedded SDKs are now included in the MegaMatcher 4.5 SDK, which will enable users to develop stand-alone, mobile, embedded or mixed biometric systems that support Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and Android platforms. The single biometrics SDKs have been also updated:
    • VeriFinger 6.7 SDK now includes the VeriFinger Embedded SDK for Android platform.
    • VeriLook 5.4 SDK has additional facial attribute recognition – smile detection, closed-eyes detection, open-mouth detection, glasses detection and dark-glasses detection, – that increases the potential application uses for the product. Also the SDK now includes the VeriLook Embedded SDK for Android platform.
    • VeriEye 2.7 SDK now includes the VeriEye Embedded SDK for Android platform.
    • VeriSpeak 2.0 SDK now includes a text-independent algorithm, which will allow for a wider range of application development. Also the SDK now includes the VeriSpeak Embedded SDK for Android platform.
  • VeriLook Surveillance 2.3 SDK also includes additional facial attribute recognition – smile detection, closed-eyes detection, open-mouth detection, glasses detection and dark-glasses detection, that may be used for certain surveillance-based applications.

A new integrated biometric platform for the Venezuelan voter registration system has been developed using the MegaMatcher SDK and MegaMatcher Accelerator solution. The system was used during the 2012 Venezuelan presidential election and proved its speed and accuracy with biometric data from nearly 18 million registered people.

MegaMatcher 4.4 and updates to entire line of multi-platform biometric technologies are available. The new releases provide a number of enhancements that improve accuracy and usability for both biometric system developers and end-users, most notably:

  • VeriFinger 6.6 comes with improved fingerprint segmentation for increased accuracy of all fingerprint scans, including scans from paper, and provides improved identification and verification.
  • VeriLook 5.3 now detects 68 predefined facial feature points and includes gender classification from face images - a feature that is also included in the updated VeriLook Surveillance 2.2 SDK.
  • VeriSpeak 1.2 for voice identification includes new voice activity detection. This improves recognition accuracy and makes VeriSpeak suitable for use in real-time online audio processing, as the application can listen constantly and react as soon as voice recognition is completed.
  • VeriEye 2.6 is now able to extract iris inner boundaries.

The Multi-Biometric Enrollment System (MBES®) for high-volume iris, face and fingerprint identification is based on MegaMatcher Accelerator units and MegaMatcher technology. More than 3.5 million taxpayers have been enrolled in the system with a goal of 5 million to be enrolled by 2014.

Speaker, iris and object recognition technologies and software development kits for Android-based mobile devices are available. Also, most of the Neurotechnology products have been updated:

  • VeriFinger 6.5 SDK – improved fingerprint identification algorithm provides better recognition reliability with a 20 % decrease in the false rejection rate (FRR). The same algorithm is used in the VeriFinger Embedded 1.1 SDK.
  • VeriLook 5.2 SDK – improved facial recognition reliability, especially for out-of-plane rotated faces. The same algorithm is used in the VeriLook Embedded 1.1 SDK and VeriLook Surveillance 2.1 SDK.
  • VeriEye 2.5 SDK – includes a faster algorithm and a new template extraction option. The new VeriEye Embedded SDK is based on the VeriEye 2.5 technology.
  • VeriSpeak 1.1 SDK – introduces a new pause detection technology, as well as the ability to recognize both unique pass-phrases and fixed phrases for each user. The new VeriSpeak Embedded SDK is based on the VeriSpeak 1.1 technology.
  • MegaMatcher 4.3 SDK for large-scale multi-biometric solutions includes all improved algorithms. The same algorithms are also available in the MegaMatcher Embedded 1.1 SDK.
  • SentiSight 3.1 SDK for object recognition and computer vision includes a new algorithm that is twice as fast as the previous version and now provides the ability to track multiple objects at the same time. The new SentiSight Embedded SDK is based on the SentiSight 3.1 technology.

The Criminal AFPIS Enterprise Solution by SecureMantra Technologies has been used by police departments in seven Indian states and the National Institute of Criminology and Forensic Science of India. Neurotechnology introduces its subsidiary Biometric Supply. The subsidiary provides a wide range of fingerprint scanners and other biometric hardware equipment. Adding Biometric Supply hardware options to Neurotechnology software allows customers to more easily obtain all of the hardware and software components required for their biometric system implementations.
