Hello,

this is not the SDK Revision number. The revision number can be found in the Revision.txt file of the downloaded SDK.

Hi,

it is an outdated SDK. Download a new one from our website and try it.
Anyway the recommendation is to run the SDK on real hardware, not the emulator.

Android related questions

Hi,
I'm developing a face detection and recognition application by your newest SDK. When I start the application, it crashed. I wonder if it's necessary to obtain related components by the NLicense method because I don't use it in my code.

Here's the logcat of error:

Hello,

Helen wrote:When I start the application, it crashed.

Do you receive any crash if our provided samples/tutorials are loaded and started?

Helen wrote:I wonder if it's necessary to obtain related components by the NLicense method because I don't use it in my code.

License obtaining for components, by using NLicense.ObtainComponents, is mandatory. Otherwise functionality of the SDK will not be enabled.

According to your provided logcat, there are missing *.so files in your application. Try to include all *.so files from the SDK.

Hi,
Your provided samples can be loaded and started correctly. The logcat says that "library 'libNLicensing.so' not found". But I do include all *.so files from the SDK. I can find the libNLicensing.so in the libs file. I feel quite strange why it can't be found.
Thank you.

Hi,
After I add NLicense.ObtainComponents method in my code, the application can run correctly. I have solved this issue. Thanks a lot.

Android related questions

Postby Helen » Dec 10, 2014 12:05

Hi,
I'm developing an application using the Neurotec_Biometric_5_0_SDK. I enroll the face and save the subjects, which are NSubject[] array. I want to delete one of the subject and I use the delete method in the NBiometricClient. However, the result is wrong, which means it can't be deleted. Please tell me how to do with it. Thank you!

Hi,
My code is refered to your sample FaceActivity. In your sample, when I click the identify button, it lists the enrolled id. If I click one item in the listview, it will identify the person correctly or not. Now I want to change the function of this button to delete a person's id after I click one item and it invoke the following function onSubjectSelected(String id). The detail of related functions is as follows.
Code: Select all
public void onSubjectSelected(String id) {
      NSubject[] mSubjects = Model.getInstance().getSubjects();
      int position = 0;
      for(NSubject subject:mSubjects) {
         if(subject.getId() == id) {
            mClient.delete(subject.getId());
         }
      }
      Model.getInstance().clear(id);
      mClient.list(NBiometricOperation.LIST, subjectListHandler);
      mClient.cancel();
      startCapturing();
   }

The following function is in the class Model.
Code: Select all
public void clear(String id) {
      int position = 0;
      for(NSubject subject:mSubjects) {
         mSubjects[position].clear();
      }
   }

After I click one of the items, the record is still in the database. This is the problem I come accross.

Best regards,
Helen

Hello,

to be able to help we need to reproduce it on our side first of all. So provide the java file with your modifications, so it would be possible to run it on our side too.

Re: Android related questions

Hi,

I have successfully created an android app for fingerprint scanner using VeriFinger and also it is working . Here i provide my code :

Code: Select all
private static final String TAG = FingerActivity.class.getSimpleName();
   private static final String BUNDLE_KEY_STATUS = "status";

   // ===========================================================
   // Private fields
   // ===========================================================

   private NFingerView mFingerView;
   private Bitmap mDefaultBitmap;
   private TextView mStatus;
   private String result = null;
   private String capture_fingerprint = null;

   // ===========================================================
   // Private methods
   // ===========================================================

   private NFScanner getScanner()
   {
      //TODO Read last used scanner from preferences
      //      for (NPlugin plugin : NDeviceManager.getPluginManager().getPlugins()) {
      //         Log.i("Model", String.format("Plugin name => %s, Error => %s", plugin.getModule().getName(), plugin.getError()));
      //      }
      for (NDevice device : client.getDeviceManager().getDevices())
      {
         //         Log.i("Device", String.format("Device name => %s", device.getDisplayName()));
         if (device.getDeviceType().contains(NDeviceType.FSCANNER))
         {
            return (NFScanner) device;
         }
      }
      return null;
   }

   // ===========================================================
   // Protected methods
   // ===========================================================

   @Override
   protected void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState)
   {
      super.onCreate(savedInstanceState);

      Log.d(TAG, "onCreate  of FingerActivity"); //Deep Shah

      try
      {
         result = getIntent().getExtras().getString("fingerprint_result");
      }
      catch (Exception e)
      {
         result = null;
      }
      try
      {
         capture_fingerprint = getIntent().getExtras().getString("fingerprint_result");
      }
      catch (Exception e)
      {
         capture_fingerprint = null;
      }
      if (!(result == null))
      {
         Toast.makeText(getApplicationContext(), "Fingerprint did not match. Please try again.", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();

      }
      try
      {
         PreferenceManager.setDefaultValues(this, R.xml.finger_preferences, false);
         LinearLayout layout = ((LinearLayout) findViewById(R.id.biometric_layout));

         mFingerView = new NFingerView(this);
         layout.addView(mFingerView);

         mStatus = new TextView(this);
         mStatus.setText("Status");
         LinearLayout.LayoutParams params = new LinearLayout.LayoutParams(LayoutParams.MATCH_PARENT, LayoutParams.WRAP_CONTENT);
         params.gravity = Gravity.CENTER;
         mStatus.setLayoutParams(params);
         layout.addView(mStatus);

         mDefaultBitmap = BitmapFactory.decodeResource(getResources(), R.drawable.hand);
         if (savedInstanceState == null)
         {
            NFinger finger = new NFinger();
            finger.setImage(NImage.fromBitmap(mDefaultBitmap));
            mFingerView.setFinger(finger);
         }
         if (capture_fingerprint == "true")
         {
            onStartCapturing();
         }
      }
      catch (Exception e)
      {
         Log.e(TAG, "Exception", e);
         showError(e.getMessage());
      }
   }

   @Override
   protected void onSaveInstanceState(Bundle outState)
   {
      outState.putString(BUNDLE_KEY_STATUS, TextUtils.isEmpty(mStatus.getText()) ? "" : mStatus.getText().toString());
   }

   @Override
   protected void onStartCapturing()
   {

      Log.d(TAG, "onStartCapturing"); //Deep Shah

      NFScanner scanner = getScanner();
      if (scanner == null)
      {
         showError(R.string.msg_capturing_device_is_unavailable);
      }
      else
      {
         client.setFingerScanner(scanner);
         NSubject subject = new NSubject();
         NFinger finger = new NFinger();
         finger.addPropertyChangeListener(biometricPropertyChanged);
         mFingerView.setFinger(finger);
         subject.getFingers().add(finger);
         //         Toast.makeText(FingerActivity.this, Thread.currentThread().getName() + " in Capturing method ", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
         capture(subject);

      }
   }

This works fine for the first time fingerprint reading but when my code returns "fingerprint mismatch" as result it should ask for try again for next time fingerprint scanning .Here is code to start FingerActivity after result is "fingerprint mismatch" :
Code: Select all
Intent intent = new Intent(BiometricActivity.this, FingerActivity.class);
                  intent.putExtra("license_obtained", "true");
                  intent.putExtra("fingerprint_result", "not_matched");
                  intent.putExtra("capture_fingerprint", "true");
                  startActivity(intent);
                  finish();

When FingerActivity starts again it detects fingerprint scanner device but won't display finger scanning area.It doesn't displaying and errors.
Please help me to solve this problem.

Thanks,
Deep

         finger.addPropertyChangeListener(biometricPropertyChanged);
         mFingerView.setFinger(finger);
         subject.getFingers().add(finger);
         //         Toast.makeText(FingerActivity.this, Thread.currentThread().getName() + " in Capturing method ", Toast.LENGTH_LONG).show();
         capture(subject);

      }
   }

This works fine for the first time fingerprint reading but when my code returns "fingerprint mismatch" as result it should ask for try again for next time fingerprint scanning .Here is code to start FingerActivity after result is "fingerprint mismatch" :
Code: Select all
Intent intent = new Intent(BiometricActivity.this, FingerActivity.class);
                  intent.putExtra("license_obtained", "true");
                  intent.putExtra("fingerprint_result", "not_matched");
                  intent.putExtra("capture_fingerprint", "true");
                  startActivity(intent);
                  finish();

When FingerActivity starts again it detects fingerprint scanner device but won't display finger scanning area.It doesn't displaying and errors.
Please help me to solve this problem.

Thanks,
Deep

Please provide a simple test application with source code, so we could be able to run and reproduce the same on our side, to support@neurotechnology.com

Re: Android related questions

Postby deep9 » Dec 17, 2014 04:36

hi,

Here i provide configuration of two android devices on which i try to test FingerPrint scanning app but it is working on only one device on another device it neither getting scanner device information nor providing scanning area.

Digiflip pro x811:

-3G with Voice Calling (Micro SIM)
-Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 OS (Assured Upgrade to Android KitKat 4.4)
-4200 mAh Li-polymer Battery
-2.0 GHz Dual Core with Hyper Threading
-1 GB RAM and 16 GB Internal Storage (Expandable Storage of 32 GB)
-Intel Atom Z2580

Micromax A114:

-Wi-Fi Enabled
-Android v4.2 (Jelly Bean) OS
-Expandable Storage Capacity of 32 GB
-1.3 GHz MT6582M Quad Core Processor
-1 GB RAM, 4 GB ROM

Fingerprint scanning app working on "Digiflip pro x811 tablet " but not on "Micromax A114" . Using "USB device info" app i came to know that micromax detect my scanner as usb device but it won't working for my bio metric app. My fingerprint scanning device is "Secugen Hamster plus". What can be problem ?

Thanks,
Deep

Does this device support USB Host? If yes, could you provide the full logcat to support@neurotechnology.com with the detailed description of the issue?

We do not support Xamarin at the moment. Please use Eclipse or NetBeans IDE.

Hi,

delete these lines in pom.xml, located in the "Samples\Biometrics\Android\multibiometric-sample" folder:

Code: Select all
      <dependency>
         <groupId>com.neurotec</groupId>
         <artifactId>neurotec-devices-fscanners-secugen-android</artifactId>
         <version>5.0.0.0</version>

hi,

I have successfully create an sample application for fingerprint identification . My question is usually how much time an application have to take to identify fingerprint when all fingerprints are stored on Sdcard ? i'm asking this question because currently it takes 3 to 5 minutes for matching fingerprint.Or you could just give me an approximate time it takes .

Thanks ,

Hello,

how the identification is done:

do you load records one by one from the sdcard when identification is done?
do you keep all records in memory, when the identification is done?

How many records there are in the database?
Do you extract Large or Small templates?

SDK specification can be found here.

hi,

How to check fingerprint is "Misread" or not properly read from scanner or finger has not been placed properly on scanner?

For example finger is placed on finger scanner in such way that scanner may read some of the portion of finger or you can say finger is misplaced on scanner if that is the case i can call it "Misread' but how to identify this case with help of coding ? or which method trigger to capture fingerprint from scanner ?

Thanks ,

Hello,

there is no such functionality in the SDK. Some scanners returns various statuses, i.e. CrossMatch Guardian scanners can return if the finger is placed to close to border of the sensor. In case of scanners supported under Android operating system in our SDK, none of the returns such information.

Android sample program - multibiometric-sample.apk

Postby razali_abu_bakar » Mar 25, 2015 10:10

We are testing sample program for android "multibiometric-sample.apk" provided in the SDK installation /Bin/Android folder.
We are testing VeriLook app. After capture a photo or load an existing photo, we always get a message "Faces feature points detector file is missing".
What this message is all about ?

Hello,

Check if in your device sd_card\Neurotechnology\Data\multibiometric\Faces.ndf file exists. If there isn't that file, then upload from SDK_Folder\Bin\Data folder. If application still won't work then provide SDK revision number, which you can find in SDK root folder in revision.txt file.

Hi Martynas,

Thank you for the answer.

In the same database I have others templates but this was storaged with other sdk (Griaule). There are compatibility? or I can convert the templates a ISO, ANSI format?

Thanks

Hi Martynas.

I try save a tamplate as ByteBuffer unsuccessfully

This is a part of my code:
Code: Select all
                      //Set fingerprint template
            dto.setTemplate(subject.getTemplateBuffer().toByteArray());  //doesn"t work
                                //dto.setTemplate(subject.getFingers().get(0).save().toByteArray());  //doesn"t work
                                //dto.setTemplate(subject.getTemplate().save().toByteArray()); //doesn"t work

            //Set fingerprint image
            dto.setFingerprintImage(Base64.encodeToString(subject.getFingers().get(0).getImage().save().toByteArray(), Base64.NO_WRAP)); //it works

DTO
public void setTemplate(byte[] template) {
      this.template = template;
   }

public void setFingerprintImage(String fingerprintImage) {
      this.fingerprintImage = fingerprintImage;
   }

The fingerprintImage is obtained successfully but fingerprintTemplate always is null.
Can you tell me how to obtain the template

This exception says, that the file "jnidispatch.so" is missing.

We do not use maven, so I coppied the file "jna.jar" to the "libs" folder. Furthermore, there are two subfolders of "libs": "armeabi" and "armeabi-v7a" with files "libdatabase_sqlcipher.so", "libsqlcipher_android.so", "libstlport_shared.so". But there is no file "jnidispatch.so".

Where should "jnidispatch.so" be and where do I get this file from?
Can someone help me?

Hi,

try to drag and drop both folders from “Lib\Android” to “libs” folder of your project in Eclipse and then rebuild the apk.

Hello,

samples and tutorials are provided within the downloaded SDK. it is recommended to start with tutorials, as they covers smaller amount of functions in one tutorial, while the sample includes almost all functionality in one place.

Hi Martynas, hi dflamprea,

we have a similiar problem:

We develop for Android und use the Verifinger SDK. The fingerprint samples are stored on SD card.

In our code, we have a subject with a finger and we would like to save this subject (or at least the fingerprint template data).

The following does not work:

Code: Select all
subject.save(); // Not serializable
subject.save(byteBuffer); // Not serializable
subject.getFingers().get(0).save(); // Not serializable
subject.getFingers().get(0).save(byteBuffer); // Not serializable

Best Regards,
benny

We would prefer to save the data in a standard format like ANSI. So we tried:

Code: Select all
FMRecord fmr = subject.toFMRecord(BDIFStandard.ANSI, FMRecord.VERSION_ANSI_CURRENT);
NBuffer nbuffer = fmr.save();
nbuffer.save(bytebuffer);

The error we get here says that fmr has to have at least on finger view.

Can anybody help us what we do wrong?

Where do we lost the finger when we convert subject to FMRecord?

Hello,

what is your SDK revision number?

Did you created a template first of all?

Hi Martynas,

could you provide a piece of code how to create this template from a subject?

It is possible to call "getTemplate()" on a subject to get an NTemplate, but it is not possible to convert this NTemplate to an FMRecord - it is only possible to convert a subject to an FMRecord.

(Or am I wrong?)

Benny

Hello,

how to create the template is shown i.e. in tutorial EnrollFingerFromImage. Here you will see that the template is created by using NBiometricClient.CreateTemplate method, where you pass the NSubject with the NFinger in it.

but it is not possible to convert this NTemplate to an FMRecord

Take a look at tutorial NTemplateToFMRecord, where it is shown how to convert the NTemplate to FMRecord
